Cookie consent platforms (CMPs) ask website visitors whether they agree to cookies and tracking scripts. The site then loads or blocks each tracker based on the answer. Most sites in the EU and an increasing number in the US need to ask, and most use a third-party tool to do it because rolling one yourself is a lot of work.
CookieLint is one of those tools. The site owner installs a single script tag, configures the banner from a dashboard, and the runtime takes care of the rest. What makes us different from the older options is on the next section.
We are not arguing that sites need consent banners. That is settled. We are arguing the existing tools answer fewer questions than they should and ask you to trust the runtime more than they earn.
The scanner records every cookie and request fired before the visitor clicks anything, then again after consent, so you see the actual delta. The dashboard surfaces what loads in the pre-consent window per page, which is the part regulators tend to focus on.
Every banner configuration is signed with an Ed25519 key before it leaves our servers. The browser verifies the signature before the banner renders. If our CDN were compromised, an attacker could not inject a different banner onto sites running CookieLint.
Consent receipts carry the page they were collected on. The dashboard surfaces which pages are losing the most consent, not just which domain. Most platforms group everything by domain, which makes it hard to act on the data.
CMPs are usually built for one of these and bolted onto the other two. CookieLint treats all three as primary.
