Our commitment
CookieLint aims to meet a high standard of accessibility so that cookielint.com and the CookieLint dashboard provide a clear and consistent experience for everyone, including people with disabilities. We follow the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Standard we target
This site targets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at Level AA. We will continue to test and improve as the product evolves.
Scope of conformance
All pages on cookielint.com and the CookieLint dashboard target the WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
How we evaluate
Accessibility is tested on a recurring basis across a representative sample of pages and dashboard flows. Testing combines manual review with assistive technologies (screen readers and keyboard-only navigation) with automated accessibility tools.
Browser and assistive technology support
We support current versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge on Windows and macOS, paired with the screen readers built into each platform: NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on Mac and iPhone, and TalkBack on Android.
The cookie banner
The cookie banner can be used entirely with the keyboard. Screen readers announce it as a dialog when it opens, and each category toggle says what it is and whether it is on or off. When the banner is shown in the centre of the screen (modal layout), focus stays inside it until a choice is made and pressing Escape dismisses the banner without saving a decision; the small opener button stays on the page so visitors can reopen it. When accept, reject, or save preferences is clicked, the choice is read aloud through a polite live region before the banner closes. Site owners who customise the banner get a warning in the editor if their chosen colours fall below WCAG contrast for body text or buttons.
